How to turn your gender commitment to action

Share :

While the world is making progress towards achieving workplace equality, we have a long way to go. Globally, women are underrepresented on Boards of Directors and executive positions. They make 77 cents for every dollar men earn worldwide and do nearly three times as much unpaid care work as men. And they continue to suffer violence and discrimination in every part of the world.

On top of all this, COVID-19 is having a disproportionate impact on women and girls. There’s a real risk that it could set us back in terms of the progress we’ve made. But this also presents an opportunity to build back better to create a more inclusive workplace for women, people of color, and others from underrepresented groups.

Go from commitment to action

Promoting gender equality in the workplace is about giving people equal opportunities while creating inclusive spaces that are free of discrimination. It may also add $12-28 trillion to global growth.

We know that companies around the world are committed to building an inclusive, equitable workplace. But we also know that it can be tricky to know where to start, or how to connect with others doing the same.

So what can companies do to support women and people from marginalized groups in the workplace? The short answer is: understand your current gender impact, set goals for where you want to be in the future, connect with other like-minded people, and let Impacti help you work towards achieving your vision of equality.

Join a step-by-step journey

We’ve created a digital tool, Impacti GENDER, to guide you step-by-step through your gender journey. It’s tailored to your needs and allows you to track, deepen, and communicate your gender impact

Our approach starts with a focus on Sustainable Development Goal 5: achieving gender equality and empowering women and girls. This is where you can take action towards goals like:

  • Creating safe and equal spaces, free from sexual harassment and gender violence, for all employees
  • Promoting female leaders and working to lower the barriers that women face
  • Building a diverse and inclusive workplace culture

What makes our digital tool unique is that you can go beyond SDG5. You can design your gender initiative to cut across the SDGs, guided by our 8 GENDER themes to apply a gender lens to every aspect of your company’s operations. You might choose to focus internally on your workforce and governance model or think more broadly about your supply chain, products and services, or the connections you have with your community.

With this cutting-edge digital tool, you can build creative and high impact gender initiatives. You can explore taking action to address the root causes and cross-cutting issues that impact women and people from marginalized groups, asking questions like:

  • Where can we source from women- and minority-owned businesses?
  • How can we better involve women in R&D?
  • What kinds of mentorship opportunities can we provide to future women leaders?
  • How can we help young women enter non-traditional STEM career fields?

And from there you can work towards making these goals a reality.

Build back better

As we all work to adapt to the new reality of COVID-19, there’s an opportunity to do things differently. Impacti GENDER is for every company who wants to be part of the solution, not the problem. Whether you’re an established gender champion or you’re just getting started on your gender journey, we’ll help you set ambitious, realistic goals while connecting you with a community of people doing the same.
